Definitely don't think it should be illegal... the same could be said for buying shares. It can be a genuine way to make a good return, and I have done it myself. Obviously the potential losses are unlimited so it is risky
Whilst I support the practice, I nonetheless enjoy it when shorters of a stock I hold are burnt. Remember, once the initiate the short position, the must eventually buy. In that sense, shorters become guaranteed buyers in the future - how good!
