you are correct. it is supposed to work that way. but notice what is going on: any announcement gets buried among the ashes once shorters make their play. observe well- a good announcement, great buying by retail, shorters take over, price goes down, retail stuck, sp continues down, triggers stop loss, some retail sell at a loss, shorters buy the crumbs. Count the huge resource, the offtakes, the permits. Retail always at the mercy of the biggies. there is liquidity for the biggies to be able to sell their huge shares. it is for the biggies. they earn money even for 1,2,3 cents sp increases. where does this leave retailers what fundamentals?
