If shorts continue to close positions quietly, then IMO we're heading toward progress/approvals/etc. They can control the SP based on no progress/news, but if we're expecting news soon and they're closing positions, then clearly they're expecting to not be able to control the SP any longer at these levels.

My reasoning for this is I don't believe the market has 12ktpa priced in right now, and the approvals announcement could set up for an explosive day of trading which could see short positions burning a lot of profit.

At the end of the day, we all wish and hope for a short squeeze to rocket the SP upwards, but I personally am at the stage where I'd just be happy to see the majority close their positions without a squeeze. On the contrary, if they start opening more positions from here, then we could be waiting a while longer to see some reprieve IMO.
