Scots will never be friendly until we are a nation of our own. Long history. Edinburgh is not the kindest city but she is cultural. Plenty of other places to go to drop a line in Scotland - many more Scots abroad than in Scotland and perhaps they just want to escape the rain - it is not the Maldives. Lots of Scots are in USA & Canada. They're good people but so are aussies. You ahve to get to know a few outside of the cities.
