I think you're right, Costello never had the numbers to make a challenge which is an indictment on the short sightedness of the Liberal MPs at the time and Howard's selfishness and ego. Howard's folly has left us with one of the worst PM's we've ever had and our strong budget position and accumulated surpluses obliterated. So Howard must take some blame for the blight that is KRudd.
