There was absolutely no point making a move against Howard as he did not have the numbers (to the detriment of the Libs and the entire country).

As for making a move post election, that would have been political suicide going against a PM so popular at that stage.

The only real opportunity for Costello to lead would have been now instead of Abbott.

Although I am happy for anyone other than the Australian destroyer running the country, I would rather have Costello at the helm over Abbott.
