A recent article in an Irish paper had this:

Ian Frazer, an immunologist, said while it has not been proven to prevent human papillomavirus (HPV) cancers in men, the benefit of extending the vaccine to boys was in the reduction of cervical cancer and genital warts.

HPV is sexually transmitted and can cause cancers of the head and neck and cervical cancer in women.
“In addition to cervical cancer, HPV is also responsible for throat and some tonsils cancers and some other rarer cancers and hopefully some of those will be prevented by the vaccine. You don’t know that for a fact because the trials were designed to ensure the vaccine was effective for cervical cancer,” Professor Frazer said.

“There is no solid evidence base to say the vaccine will prevent the cancers caused by HPV in the throat but they should. It seems logical if it can prevent the infection it can prevent the cancer, but scientists like to see evidence.”
