Your post is a little misleading.
"AI at the edge will not need the cloud" -- sure, if you don't want to remotely control anything and want to run all your automation on the local network, which kind of defeats the purpose of home automation..... I want to turn my aircon on before I get home, not off my phone while I'm sitting in my bedroom.
Edge computing will work with cloud based technology to make it more efficient for the appropriate applications, not eliminate the need for it.
