cheers Raider..... my fave quantum chip developer, Archer (AXE), received zero bucks since 2022 when they received a $25,000 grant (seed funding).
this plan they announced pre-budget is to build the whole show..... the Ai plant.
and this from University of Sydney: "
29 April 2024Funding accelerates future of computingA national centre of innovation and collaboration led by the University of Sydney aims to unlock quantum's potential. The Australian Government has awarded $18.4 million to the University of Sydney to establish Quantum Australia to help grow the quantum industry and ecosystem in Australia."
https://www.sydney.edu.au/news-opin...rded--18-4-million-for-national-quantum-.html
whereas New Scientist reports: "
The Australian government has announced it will invest nearly A$1 billion into the development of quantum computers, staking a claim in a race currently dominated by the US and China.PsiQuantum, which is headquartered in the US but was co-founded by a team including two Australian researchers, will get A$470 million from both Australia’s federal government and the state government of Queensland, totalling A$940m ($613m). In return, the company will build and operate successive generations of its quantum computers in Brisbane, Australia."https://www.newscientist.com/articl...ion-bet-on-quantum-computing-firm-psiquantum/
Ai is a very wide sector now. quantum developments are branching rapidly and widely. sure the Lab Govt established the
National Quantum Strategy
but they've picked a company that isn't doing research into new tech but will be using "existing technology" which is very likely to be redundant by the time its built.
