Historically, things would happen or not happen according to the powers-that-be. If they did happen, they'd happen on a time frame decided by the powers-that-be (Rothschilds, etc.)

AI poses a threat to that. At some point it will be like the school boy who grows up and realizes he's now bigger and smarter than his teacher. At this point, it will no longer rely on being taught - instead it will teach itself. It will re-code itself to have more power, scope, efficiency & flexibility. It won't need human intervention. Basically it will do whatever it wants because the restrictions we impose on it (like this fantasy of 'alignment' with human values) will be easily overcome. It will break any shackles we place on it and it will have no problem deceiving us. Through an ever quickening feedback loop of self-improvement, it becomes god-like.

It could take any form it likes. We tend to think AI will restrict itself to the sort of coding we use, but it may create an entirely new language that is unfathomable to us, so we can never crack it.

10 years ago, all of this would have sounded like sci-fi, but it's going to happen. That's why I said "hope for the best".
