It's not surprising that these announcements are not moving the market. It is a stretch to call Ainsoff an AI system. It's not on the same page as the latest craze in AI - ChatGPT. As I understand it, the Ainsoff Deterioration Index is based on a regression model that identified several variables that are predictive of deterioration. This is more properly called an "Expert System" -- which was a buzzword about a decade ago.

Most people nowadays think of AI as a more general intelligence system like ChatGPT.

The real competitors in this space (according to ChatGPT's dataset that covers only up to 2021) are:

1. IBM Watson for Health: IBM Watson is a well-known AI platform that offers various services and tools for healthcare applications. Watson for Health includes solutions for analyzing medical data, interpreting unstructured data from medical literature, assisting in clinical decision-making, and providing personalized treatment recommendations.

2. Google DeepMind Health: DeepMind, a subsidiary of Google's parent company Alphabet, has been working on AI applications in healthcare. DeepMind Health is focused on using AI to analyze patient data and medical records to assist with early diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient care management.

3. NVIDIA Clara: NVIDIA Clara is an AI platform specifically designed for medical imaging and healthcare research. It includes tools and libraries for developing AI-powered applications to improve medical imaging analysis, pathology, and radiology.

4. Microsoft Healthcare NExT: Microsoft's Healthcare NExT initiative aims to use AI and cloud computing to advance healthcare. They work on various projects, such as using AI to improve medical imaging, assist in genomics research, and enhance patient engagement.

5. GE Healthcare Edison: Edison is GE Healthcare's AI platform that focuses on leveraging AI and machine learning for medical imaging, data analytics, and workflow optimization in healthcare settings.

6. Tempus: Tempus is a technology company that uses AI and data analytics to provide insights into cancer treatment and research. They analyze clinical and molecular data to help doctors make more informed decisions for their patients.
   
   The Ainsoff system was evidently only trained on data from patients in one hospital in Sydney, and compared to the manual deterioration charting system in NSW called "between the flags." It was shown to be a better predictor than the NSW system, which is great. However, the real test is to figure out if the cost of introducing it at additional hospitals (including all the issues of systems integration) would achieve significant benefits for the hospitals and their patients.
   
   With NSW starting to adopt the new EPIC patient administration systems, another question will be whether EPIC can integrate with these types of third-party tools.
