"the water is released when I turn it off."
Don't know what you mean by that statement.
Water goes into a tray at the bottom of the air con.
Being in Perth, where I live, you will get an enormous build up of calcium, which may have blocked some of your pump outlet hoses. Even the 'screen' around the pump can block up, preventing water getting to the pump.
From the pump water is pumped to 5 outlets, one for each of the four fibre filters. This water goes into a trough, and trickles over each individual filter.
The fifth, and much smaller outlet, runs into the 'drain pipe', controlled by a small plastic tap, to regulate drainage, and thereby the volume/rate a which water is replaced/refreshed.
The only way to see if everything is working as it should, is to take one of the 'filters' off, then yell out to someone on the ground, the missus?, to turn the water on.
Take a medium flat blade screw driver and a pair of pliers up with you, to twist the latches that retain the filter housing.
