True, and it certainly could be a cover-up. Look at the coverup over that Air Newzealand flight that hit Mt Erebus in the Antarctic. And there have been others. There is current controversy over an airliner (cant remember which) that supposedly has had a thrust reverser coming on at cruise on one side only, causing loss of control and fatal structural failure. With $bllions involved, sure, the aircraft manufacturer and its Govt would do anything to cover up a defect or negligence.
