    Hi Shiggy,
You made me glad I never tried to spin a Mooney.
I started learning to fly on the Chipmunk with the Royal Aero Club at Guildford in 1960. The Chippy was spinnable, but went into a flat spin after four turns I was told.
I never tested that. The PA28 140 I transitioned to was spinnable in the "Utility Category" but the spin always changed to a spiral dive after a few turns.
The first REALLY spinnable aircraft I encountered was the Fuji Aero Subaru FA200 180. You could take that to 13,000 ft, enter a pin, and recover instantly after a 10,000 ft spin, stable all the way. Best Aerobatic aircraft I ever got my hands on.

Agree with what you say on the 200....... just a combination of all the factors.... too low, too slow, with nowhere to go. Except for the traffic, he may have been able to pull the good engine to maintain control and still put it down in one piece.

    GZ
