Excellent reference Pinch, but actually elsewhere I've seen reference to maintenance costs being around 25% of aircraft operating costs, and the addituonal benefits wrt structural monitoring sensors is it increases an aircraft's availability, and thus impacts (ie enables a reduction) on fleet size, particularly for the larger US carriers.
