A tesla model 3 uses 130 lbs of copper, which at a price of $US4 per lb costs about US$500 per car. A new base model tesla 3 costs about US$40000. So copper is 1.25% of the cost of a tesla model 3.
Thus if the price of copper doubled, then the price of a tesla would increase only 1.25% which would have little effect on demand.
For renewable energy, we need about 10 lbs of copper (about US$40) per installed kw. The capital costs of renewable power plants are about $2000 per installed kw. So the copper cost is only 2% of the total cost of renewable energy, and the price of copper doubling would have only a minor effect on demand.
