IMO 12 months is very hopeful thinking. The average one takes 10-15 years to develop. Yes we have a huge amount of resources pouring into research for this, but there is no way to speed up the process for knowing long term complications. The Coronavirus family have been around since the 30s and there has been no vaccine or cure made for any of them in 90+ years.
The only short term I can see happening is a treatment that makes COVID similar to the flu in terms of number of infections/hospitalizations/deaths etc. E.G. MSB and their stem cell treatment.
That is going to the airline industry the hand it needs to get the ball rolling but like you said, we have to wait until trails prove an effective treatment - not a cure/vaccine. In the mean time its washing our hands and spraying zoono
