The monthly chart with RSI(10) shows the latter rising over the passage of time whilst the SP is falling. There are several instances of such positive convergences. Take a look at the periods 2001-2, 2005-6, 2011-12, 2015-16, 2016-17 and the ensuing SP rising. The current running positive convergence goes back to 2019, and still rising.
