Correct and correct. If you hold for more than 12 months then you pay tax on HALF of your capital gain.
Eg. if you buy 1000 @ $10 then sell 1000 @ $20 over 12 months later, you pay CGT on $5000.
And in regards to FIFO, this is one of the reasons I buy parcels and parcels of good stocks, ie. AJM and PLS.
