Going to be a volatile week- with US mid- terms Trump frantically pulling out all the stops to visit key states. Has he successfully pissed off 50% of population through his appalling treatment of women or has the trade war Rethoric back fired in the farming states? I'm not so sure on this. All I do know the US$ is having a significant impact on base commodities. Other issue is brexit- I think if a deal is done here it will stabilize EU/$ providing downward pressure on US dollar- reducing EM debt liabilities and fueling a rebound in EM which is good for AUS/$ and base metal demand. Let's hope both mid terms and Brexit provide good outcomes! A strong dollar might be good for base metal prices, however this isn't sustainable long term and will feed into inflationary pressures- so overall I would rather see the US dollar depreciate. Will also help with reducing dollar denominated debt liabilities for AJM.
