Marcus, we were all new here at some point and most of us new to trading, at probably around the same time.
One thing that you will learn from being a member of this forum, is that there are several types of investors here; all of whom have their own agendas and trading styles. At one end of the spectrum, you have people tweaking their SMSF's, looking for long term "holds" and at the other end of the spectrum, you have day traders. These guys could be in and out of the same stock, several times a day.
The latter group don't really care about which company is a better one, they just follow the money and the frenzy.
You will also read comments by "rampers", who want to feed a buying frenzy, in order to encourage gullible people into buying a stock, in the hope that the price will increase. They will have their "conditional trades" set up, so that they make a nice profit when the buying frenzy, turns into panic selling.
You will also hear from "down rampers", who will try and talk a stock down, in the hope that people will sell, while they themselves are quietly accumulating.
They could also be people who are bitter and twisted, because they have listened to some rampers and got caught up in the buying frenzy in a particular stock; only to be left holding long after the smarter guys have dumped their shares and moved on to the next party.
I feel sorry for some of them, because they could have lost all their money and have nothing left trade with. That my friend, is gambling and the sharemarket is no place for a gambler.
While sifting through all of this, you will no doubt come across some very informative posts by people who have carried out a lot of research and those folks usually have something worthwhile to contribute. Usually these guys will also end their commentary with the anagram for the best advice that you will ever receive:

Don't take advise from other individuals on here. You don't know them. You don't know who they are or what their individual agendas are.
Personally, I don't post a lot, but I do like to read these forums. You get to know after a while, who the good contributors are.
If you want to learn from this website, I suggest you wander over to the Short Term Traders forum. You can learn a fair bit from those guys. But above all DYOR! It is your money that you want to invest. You have worked hard for it and my number one mantra in trading in the stock market is Preserve Capital! Don't take unnecessary risks. Once your money is gone, its gone...
