Hearing graphs would actually be pretty cool. If you were looking at a long time period of a graph, and put sounds to graph attributes, (rapid peaks - TA Da sounds, slow builds - building crescendos, flat lines - neutral tones, slow drops - dark notes, rapid drops - dum dum dum dummm), you could play at a suitable speed and fairly simply look for things like:
a) Light feel good music - long term trend slowly up
b) Rapid upbeat tune - Actively rising quickly
c) background music - steady
d) dark music - slowly dropping
e) dramatic dark music - rapid drop
If you adjusted the window you looked for these patterns in you could smooth out bumps until you got a consistent musical theme.
Would be fun to play with, not sure what you would see that you don't get looking at a graph, but also not sure how it would sway your opinion if you could "feel" the graph.
