Its dawned on me over the last few years that since HFT has come in, charting has gotten a bit out of hand.
Well, not so much the charting but the HFT is disrupting what many TA users, and very successful ones at that, have used for years and years as reliable TA references/trigger points/setups etc.

One very reliable point has just been mentioned by Taurean7.

the 50% retrace has been a very successful turning point across the board of stocks but it seems that lately it can go just that little bit further due to HFT or indeed the manipulation theory.

Interesting to see how we fare next week for sure.
