Goarmy is some respects with regard to requests from companies interested in Akida you are spot on. The company has received requests for a chip with different characteristics. My belief is that the Akida 2 chip which seems like it is likely to be a 2021 incarnation is suited to data center applications.
This therefore will give the company a product profile where it has the potential to sign up edge focused customers and another string to its bow being datacentres and corporations that utilise large storage systems.
The two chips will be complimentary to one another and won't necessarily compete with the other.
This was spelt out for me recently and gave me further confidence that the company is intent on building a product library that doesn't need refreshing year after year. Instead it is looking to create a suite of different ai products that attack a large range of problems with differing solutions.
