Al-Dhalea front in Yemen from defense to attack
Significant progress made by the joint forces, by reaching the southern gate of Ibb governorate and the Mawia border of Taiz

    Thursday 12 November 2020
The task of the southern joint forces in the Yemeni governorate of Al-Dhalea is no longer only to defend the city of Aden and its neighboring governorates from the Houthi invasion, but to advance north to control areas in Ibb, as a first stage prior to reaching the liberation of the Yemeni capital, Sana'a.

The Dhali Front has topped all Yemeni battlefields, in terms of the intensity of the battles and their lack of stopping, and the last few weeks have recorded remarkable progress by the joint forces, and a relative retreat by the Houthis, who lost hundreds of their members, who were killed, wounded or captured.

    A long and continuous battle

The spokesman for the Dhali Combat Axis, Fuad Jabbari, said, “The battle with the Houthi militia is military and political for a long time, and the southern joint forces were able to stop their advance towards Al-Dhalea, which became secure, and even defeated them tens of kilometers north, and the resistance shifted from a position of defense to attack, and concentrated in strategic locations. Great military. "

He added, "We have made great progress in reaching the southern gate of the Ibb governorate in central Yemen, and in the Mawia borders of Taiz, after the Houthis defeated more than 20 kilometers towards Ibb, and we also have the ability to progress more, and plans and strategies are ready."

"In addition, we have made progress in the logistical and organizational aspects, as well as the technical and military aspects, and from gaining combat experience, establishing camps and training thousands of men in various martial arts, until they are at the height of readiness," Jabbari added.

    Theater of operations

The military official explains the nature of the theater of operations in the various fighting axes north and west of Al-Dhalea, saying, "The Al-Dhalea front is wide and broad, in which the confrontations are not limited to a specific geographical framework, but there are several combat axes in which we engage in clashes on an almost daily basis, starting from the two axes of Meris, northeast of the governorate. Passing through Al Fakher in the north, which consists of the Hajjar sector (Bab Ghalaq), the Fakher Habeel Al Abdi sector and the Sabira - Al Jeb sector, in addition to the axis of the Al Hasha district in the northwest of the governorate, which consists of the sectors of Battar, Habeel Yahya and Al Thokh, and also the axis of Torsa Al Azarq, which is located in the far south Al-Gharbi with the borders of Taiz Governorate, Mawiya District.

He explained, "All these axes and sectors in which we are engaged in the fiercest confrontations with the enemy, and their area is estimated at more than 50 km by air measurement, in the midst of rugged terrain consisting of valleys, high mountains and plateaus, and this terrain undoubtedly hinders the process of progress in contrast to the deserts and coastal areas."

    Reasons that delayed the decision

On the factors that postponed the resolution of the battle north of Dhali` in favor of the joint forces despite the great progress they have made, Jabbari said, "We have the ability to advance more and more towards the governorates of Ibb and Dhamar, but there are things that made us wait, the most important of which is the transfer of parties in the government to the war south, specifically in the governorate. Shabwa, and what is happening now in Abyan, that these parties open a front there, and threaten to head towards the capital, Aden.

He continued, "All these events made us reconsider our calculations in the process of progress towards the northern regions, because it is stupid to advance to liberate northern governorates in light of the presence of those who want from the northern forces to overthrow the south in their hands again, so there are priorities we are working on."

    Preemptive strikes

Jabbari touched on the escalation in the Murees front and Al-Fakher, saying, "Recently there has been an escalation of our combat operations on that front, and this escalation comes as preemptive strikes on the enemy's movements, who were gathering and bringing large reinforcements at last, in reference to an attempt to launch attacks against us, so we escalated from "Our combat operations, and we targeted places of concentration of their forces in more than one place, and we were able to paralyze their capabilities and thwart all their offensive plans, and wherever there is a threat, we remove it immediately."

Jabbari points out that the fronts of the Dhali axis are considered the closest and most appropriate gateway to liberating the capital, Sanaa, after the collapses of government forces in Nehm, Al-Jawf, and Marib, east of Yemen, in favor of the Houthi militia, noting that the war is in fact political, but of a military character.

    The Houthi response

The progress achieved by the joint forces was not recognized by the Houthi group. Rather, it has diminished its importance according to its media, and while the "Independent Arabia" was unable to communicate with a responsible source in the "Ansar Allah" (Houthis) to obtain a response, the Yemeni Saba News Agency In its Houthi version, it quoted the governor of Al-Dhali 'in the Houthi "Ansar Allah" government, Muhammad Saleh Al-Hadi, calling on their loyalists to stabilize the security situation and strengthen cohesion and alignment to counter the plans.

Al-Hadi said, "The current stage the country is going through requires concerted efforts to consolidate the province's security and stability, as this is a collective responsibility."
