    There is a big market for these stories, and often the more foolish the premise of the story the better.

    There are some people who will believe almost any nonsense, in fact they prefer the believe the nonsense to the obvious. I guess it makes them feel somehow special to feel they are in posession of "special knowledge" that other "normal people" do not have.

    Anyway, all of these things are amusing from time to time, and usually harmless, although as you have noted previously, any of these wacko ideas can turn into something dangerous to the rest of us when in the "minds" of the unthinking or in the hands of a skilled manipulator.

    Witness the manipulation of large segments of the islamic world to believe and base their lives around some incredibly stupid 7th century nonsense.
