It is a good question, essentially it is because people thought the well would go on "extended flow tests" not because the executive chairman Andrew Purcell said it would, but because he was asked if it was possible in webinars, and the executive chairman said it was theoretically possible (assuming high pressure/flow to surface). However... this appraisal of Amistad makes extended flow testing nearly impossible, for example, if Amistad subunit 3 did have commercial flow from the conventional verticle well design, they would still need to shut it off and then test the higher reservoirs regardless (they would not have re-designed the well (on the fly, [improvising]) just to allow extended flow testing, even if it was possible from Amistad subunit 3, in my opinion).

Secondly, I have invested in oil and gas for a long time, I can't even remember an appraisal well turning into a production well instantaneously. This is probably a thing of the past, as everything requires safety considerations these days, it's hard to plan for safety design when you don't know the pressure/flow/quality/etc etc.. I don't think we will ever see an extended flow test ever again in my opinion (due to western standards).
