Premier Alan Carpenter chats with Mr Paul Sheehan



WA Premier Alan Carpenter visited Royal Perth Hospital in March to announce a $100 million medical research building program.

The State Government and UWA have committed $50million each to build medical and biotech research centres, which would enable WA to become a world leader in medical research. The Western Australian Institute for Medical Research and the Lions Eye Institute have also committed to raising funds for the centres.

Mr Carpenter said the first of the research centres would be built on the Queen Elizabeth II Medical centre site in Nedlands, with the second to be constructed when RPH moves to the new Fiona Stanley Hospital in Murdoch.
