Gillard's plan is clearly to ride the criticism for a few weeks hoping it will die down after that. She let this cat out of the bad in the interview where she crows about the flood levy. People actually want to help flood victims and the course of events was such that after she announced this one, the situation became worse with more cyclone activity. People's problem with it was not that they didn't want to help flood victims, but they didn't want money going to the Labor waste machine when they should cut some of their other waste instead.
However this carbon tax is straight out communism designed for Bob Brown and his mates to get off on. She is misjudging and her view that the anger will die down shows extreme arrogance and her communist party principles.
