I hope her replacement will be based on merits, and not on one's gender.

The ALP has for some years now had a quota for women to be pre-selected, but that has not improved the overall quality of Labor's members of parliament. It has become an easy way for some female Labor members to get preselected and entered parliament because they are women.

I find this policy very objectionable. Labor has had women leaders in Qld, Victoria, WA, and in Canberra, and none had proved themselves to be worthy of the high position they occupied.
