It never ceases to amaze me...
Forums and comment pages always start off informative and compelling and slowly drift down into a bit of a bicker-fest - like a giant middle finger in the face of the teleological need for man to move forward with purpose.
You get the feeling sometimes, one by one the reasonable people from all sides of the debate are driven off by... toothless people with shot guns.
"The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity"
Supertramp, you have certainly been copping it and you're right - why bother?
I appreciated your posting and not just because our views on the company are closely aligned...
But in contemplating the recent flack you have been receiving a big WHY swells up inside me and needs to be resolved?
I promise I am not flaming... i just need answers... it just makes no sense to me... and maybe it will answer a broader why... the why do forums always turn sour?
errrr... ok... I am gonna call a spade a spade here
TCF, I am no share guru, but WHY on earth - if as you say "I hope one day to get out breaking even" - would you go around posting stuff like "The Nearmap public advice process is a scam" and "IPR is a dog."
WHY?!?!?!
OK ignoring that it does not really add to the debate, it's kinda slanderous, it's not based on "numbers", "facts" or even "truthish stuff", it's inflammatory, it's even sorta creepy, i could go on...
But fundamentally it's just so self-destructive... This is YOUR holding and you are not just critically examining it in public, you are draggin' it out onto the street and slapping its face whilst the neighbours peek through the curtains at you and feverishly call the fuzz.
And that's why I have to ask WHY? Why the investing Hara Kiri? Why would the rational man -Homo economicus - post this? Fascinating.
Your posts, tcf and others, have given me an insight into the deep resentment that still resides in the IPR investing community and for that alone I thank you for your comments.
And I appreciate anyone taking the time to post and always welcome and respect a differing opinion - differing opinions save my bacon sometimes.
But I think the IPR smackdown has to end...
I reckon we should agree to all just play the ball, keep it constructive, and take a step back before we scare off anyone else (such a shame, that Supertramp seemed like such a nice young man).
That is all I am going to post on the matter... because later today I want to post:
1. My opinions on SP in low volumes - I will call it "IPR: is it bad sentiment or just no sentiment?" and
2. IPR's use of social media - i will call this "Web 2.0 comms: the key to quality customer engagement or have we just all gone Lady GaGa?"
...so long as my coffee buzz sees me through the day...
