Shadow veterans’ affairs minister Barnaby Joyce has criticised the Labor government’s allowance for public servants to substitute the Anzac Day public holiday for another day of leave.Under policy changes put in place by the Albanese government in January last year, all employees of the Commonwealth are permitted to request substitution of Australia’s National Day of Remembrance in exchange for their chosen day of paid time off.The option is available for all the 350,300 public sector workers funded by the federal government, not those employed in state, territory and local government level capacities.
This is the first step towards scrapping/renaming Anzac Day
Other dates like Xmas and Easter will follow.
