The government is not naive. They went to an election with the U S f t H in full. That was three processes as I understand and commenced with a Referendum.
1. V
2. M
3. T
When the Australian electors voted overwhelmingly against the V, blind Freddie would know that as sure as night follows day the rest of the U S f t H would be rejected. Governments are more successful at doing what they CAN do, NOT what they CAN'T.
Broken promises are always political rhetoric. At least the referendum was held and not kicked down the road. The practicality of the R is the issue is dead, buried and cremated.
Like I said elsewhere; we live in a democracy and the tribes need to breed-up their numbers of electors or officials if change is to be implementd.
