record government spending shouldn't be a political tool -- why?
because for a start - if an economy is growing, then government must grow
but, also - Oz government spending is a 'goal' to keep low - and that is NOT a smart philosophy for growing a nation ----
no nation ever grew from a country with low government spending, low tax, government getting out of the way and cut cut cut of spending and services
never has a nation grown like that - why? -------- because it's impossible
the putting up of record spending as a political weapon is destructive for the country
what is far more important is WHAT the spending does --------- and that should very much be used politically ---------- like there should be a discussion on INCREASING the spending on STEM education -------- if Oz wants to be in a high tech world - it needs to UP UP UP the spending there greatly - in both education, general research etc
do we see the Liberals sprouting that? no
do we see Labor sprouting that? no
we should all be asking ------- why not?
