I don't think I said to leave nursing homes as they were. I believe that there should be an RN available around the clock. Unfortunately I have had both my parents in a nursing home in recent years when we could no longer care for them at home. What I did say was that they made an election promise to have more RNs in nursing homes, but had NO IDEA about how that was going to happen. The consequence is closure of beds as facilities can only take patients that they are able to staff for.
Maybe the Government can spend some of the windfall budget surplus on upskilling the workforce.
