You can make arguments for the merits of any poll , yet they are used all the time to gauge the communities thoughts.
I expected a high yes vote is the paper is mostly full of garbage lightweight news suited to the young one's two minute attention span.. So I was surprised, but pleased to see such a strong NO result.
I don't believe it should be about advantaging aboriginals..
The whole point of the constitution is that it has always been equal representation for all.
If we go down this slippery path, what minority group will be next to hold up their hand for special representation.
However, Representation is not the problem for that community and more of it will solve none of their problems. responsibility and discipline would actually do wonders, but that cannot be bought.
