Will the Americans never learn? The article says that they are concerned about political instability in Venezuala, implying that Nigeria is politically stable! What a joke!
Venezuala has a president elected by the majority (more than you can say about the USA). Nigeria has a military dictatorship that rips off most of the oil profits and suppresses any form of protest. And yet this is the style of government that the USA prefers.
Nigeria won't be "politically stable" for long unless it becomes a democracy and returns the wealth generated by oil back to the people.
Remember that most of the Sept 11 hijackers were Saudis. It was American support for the autocratic goverment of Saudi Arabia caused the resentment and hatred that bred those hijackers.
Anyone remember the plot to that Sci-Fi film of a few years back? Independence Day? The baddies were a group of plundering aliens who moved into another world, plundered the resources, then moved onto the next.
The USA are tiring of the mid-east, so know they are ready to move into Africa.
