More Albo delusions in the Budget. There must be better things Albo can do than f with our prosperity. Minerals are mostly the property of the Crown or the States and the States administer mineral exploration and mining and collect royalties on mining production. Mineral exploration is a high risk business. Resource companies raise funds from investors and compete to apply for tenements or buy mines and conduct mineral exploration. Most mineral exploration does not result in finding a new mine but the results are reported annually to the States Resources Depts which adds to geo-knowledge which assists future mineral exploration. In recent decades mineral exploration has been impaired by ever increasing Red-Green-Black tape from all levels of Govt. and it would be great for Australian prosperity if that was reduced.
