Amazing, there have been record profits by companies paying low wages but
its apparently a crime to to want or support a catch up rise for
the lowest paid in the land. Meanwhile the top end salaries keep
going up and they get the largest tax cut amounts to boot.
The call by ALBO for the lowest wage to be boosted to the
equivalent of the inflation rate is both fair and a winner. Whereas
the coalition is seen to want wages to depreciate in real terms
while their own salaries and the top end power ahead, and include
the benefit of bigger tax cuts.
ALBO cant set the actual wage rate that's done by the Fair Work
Commission but the govt can create the environment for Fair Work
to see merit in such an increase. Labor has foreshadowed increased
productivity can offset inflationary pressures and that would be a factor
for Fair Work to consider.
