I guess you know that you’re preaching to the converted .

I agree that it’s ignorance and stupidity.

But there’s more to it than that, I’ve learned.

There’s always ignorance and stupidity in all societies, but underneath all of it lies a culture; and that is where I believe the major issue lies.

And I seriously believe that a lot of it comes from where we began modern Oz

a convict dumping ground.

Now let’s imagine that the convicts were in fact, good people, not bad or evil.

What were they doing to get dumped on ships and sent to Oz???

They were surviving. They just happened to get caught.

So their character and possibly their genes were attuned to survival- at the expense of others.

That was their character, their nature and when you stick them together - it is naturally, their culture.

Like a workplace, as new people come in, they also fall into the culture, so, it continues.

And, here we are.

Can it be changed? I believe so, but it has to be a national effort, and sustained.

Do we want to change it? I don’t believe so, in fact, I don’t think many are even aware of our own culture.
