Perhaps the price may come down in time - but supply/demand may arrest cheaper supply. Another more pertinent issue will be whether with so many different manufacturers and different models, will spare parts including battery packs be available and for how long?? Highly doubtful spare parts suppliers will be able to stock a range of battery packs if just one costs between the range indicated.

The more one analyses the pros and cons of the electric vehicle revolution, the more the relevance of the words from a familiar song - 'these boots are made for walking and that's just what they'll do' - one of these days that may be the only way to get around for millions as the affordability of vehicle ownership will be only for the rich.

On the flip side, lack of car ownership means no more rego and insurance fees, nor parking fees or fines or the familiar fines one gets pulled up for such as: using a phone or for deciding to forego wearing seatbelts or exceeding the speed limit even by 1km, especially with the recent report indicating massive fine increases in QLD from July this year. But of course it's about one's own well being and a great incentive to do the right thing - of course nothing to do with filling up depleted govt. coffers to pay politicians and public servants.

Lack of vehicle ownership also has other benefits - walking aids one's own health more than wearing a seatbelt and even allows one to actually see things missed whilst driving - but be on the lookout for autonomous (driverless) moving vehicles which undoubtedly will become more common and potentially hazardous.

In any event, the great reset that has been alluded to for some time is being implemented step by step - who needs a car - certainly cheaper to use shanks pony - one step at a time - perhaps may be a welcome relief by some in such a fast paced world as ours.
