    yes agree Scott, but its just a made up scenario for illustration (e.g maybe there are simpler ways than drilling to attack the sub)
    the advantage of attacking at depth is it could be done without anyone knowing - possibly even during peacetime

    the main point is when a $10 billion asset can be threatened by weapons costing in the $1000s you have a really big problem
    the other vulnerability subs have is they can't be modified anywhere as quickly as the drones
    so any counter measures will be quickly nullified

    perhaps swarms of them could autonomously search the oceans and locate all the subs?

    in any case, I don't think it's worth risking $300 billion on subs
