Hard to tell if bots are at play here, usually they target high volume mining companies - so best to avoid those. To beat the bots you need to look at the overall trend And not short term movements of a stock and in this case ALC has 385 percent share return over 1 year. I think we should we safe from the bots! But those bots can be very nifty with their speed trading.
