I see this technology not as a substitute for fibre but to enhance cat5/6/7 distances from 90 metres upwards.
Still need a national fibre network, maybe not to the house though, still feel user pays for last stretch between RIM and premises, but 100 meg over 1 km of copper is an excellent effort.
