Scots and Irish brogues forming a huge part of the resultant and varied accent influences which have developed in the USA -
young Aussies now developing a new nasal twang accent which is very hard to understand - and speaking fast - a lingo of their own.
Captain Cook - perhaps the greatest navigator of all time - and a French ship hove to just offshore the day Captain Phillip raised the flag - so we could all well be a French colony - and what was Cook's portayal reduced to, at the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics - some cringe-worthy two minutes of naming a fool of him - portrayed as figure of fun - a carictature. How DARE we admire him - or his achievements? Yet the huge emphasis on aboriginality!
And then there was Peter Garrett - and Midnight Oil - at the closing ceremony - his T shirt lampooning then PM John Howard. Who the hell allowed THAT gross insult? His T shirt not banned, nor objected to.
One rule for us plebs. And quite another for the "intellectual elite" of the Left.
Yes, the Leftists rule. And political correctness is their new religion.

Australia now being made a drag - when we all thought it a celebration - for all. If it's now so contentious - best to cancel it altogether. It's already spoilt - with all this pointless PC arguing. and navel gazing - and endless analysis.
We being made to feel guilty - just because we breathe - we exist? No one OWNS anything in the long run. We're all born the same - equal - and go out the same - equal. On which piece of land we're lobbed onto at birth - is just a random accident of geography, and birth place, according to where our Mum happened to live at that particular time.
