alert governments cop-out re carbon reductions

We have a situation where we can reduce carbon emissions from power and coal burning stations. The techinolgy is there and not being supported. The technology can come from numerous companies and yet they are not being supported by the Government.

Our Australian Government has vowed to reduce carbon emissions by a pathetic 5% by 1021.

2021?? That is rediculous given that we can acheive that by years end 2009! We only have to implement compulsory strategies and commit to the existing technologies that will reduce those carbon emissions.

The truth of the matter is that we have already reduced our carbon emissions by 5% and that means that the 2012 goal is a total myth.
Australia and much of the world has already reduced power generated emission by 5% through the industries slumping or halting productions, as caused by the Credit Crisis.
A number of mines and industries have shelved plans that would otherwise see coal being burned at record rates.

So what are we going to do about the myth of reducing emissions by 5% (which has already been acheived anyway as explained)?

Would you all like to put your thoughts here, as i am in communication with the government regarding this issue and I would sincerely appreciate other peoples thoughts on the matter.
