I think your missing the point happycats. The product is in testing, not viral marketing stage. It would be silly to roll out all guns blazing now and have consumers coming to your site to be told it's not ready and we can't confirm when just yet. This was just a bit of traffic to fill the 50k subscribers and start the awareness campaign. I am sure you will see all the organic seo growth campaigns that you are thinking they should do... Once they have a bug free, ready to roll product. That won't be long but it's not now.
So perhaps they shouldn't have bothered making a big deal out of the alexa thing.... But that doesn't mean they don't have a good natural pr plan coming
