They have been pretty clear that the war is about the destruction of Hamas in Gaza from the start.
No need for speculation and debate, its quite clear.

The hostages are just pawns hamas hopes to use to gain some concessions.

The only hope for hamas is to stir up external pressure through public opinion.
Its a tough ask, they are truly grubs, not much sympathy where it matters.
Dont think Israel is that worried about it anyway.

The Gazan's will turn on them eventually. That is the quickest way to a resolution.
hamas has paid dearly for being an iranian proxy.
Not that hamas leaders are concerned, they are still living it up in luxury. No skin off their back.
