Well there is the "known unknowns" such as; ANY chemicals in use have the potential to cause an adverse effect. Using the absolute "safe" would open them up to a very litigious arena should even one person have an allergic reaction to their product for example. "Safer" is well....much safer to use.
Then there's the "unkown unknowns", what if in 3o years they find their solutions lower the midiclorians in jedi?
