I reckon you’re right - Redbird Capital put in US$80m last year for a 24% stake in the US side of the business. Part of the deal gave them options for further stakes beyond that.
They might be running the numbers to take majority ownership or take it over completely now that US leisure & entertainment looks like being back on its feet soon.
The buying today to 90c and beyond could be by those anticipating an offer of $1.20 or $1.30 - still medium term cheap
compared to the potential of the US operation.
